This page starts with parks and playgrounds. Then we provide you with a spreadsheet of all kinds of activities you might enjoy in Central WV. We know we don't have everything on the list. We invite you to let us know what we missed or what info is now incorrect.
Please feel free to download the spreadsheet (which includes parks and playgrounds) and use it to spread the word and make it easier for people to be active outdoors.

Philippi City Park and Pool. Philippi offers an array of recreational opportunities and family-friendly fun and recreation.

Tygart Lake State Park Just four miles south of Grafton, Tygart Lake State Park is known for its 10-mile long, 1,750-acre lake, which offers water activities like boating, water skiing, scuba diving, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing.

Moats Falls - Walkers, hikers, runners, and bikers can enjoy a multitude of off-road trails and paths to follow and explore, either along the river or deeper into the forest.

Holly Gray Park - Holly Gray Park in Braxton County offers fishing, tennis, baseball, a corral, and a playground. Hiking trails dot the scenic property.

Doddridge County Park - a natural setting with picnic areas, playgrounds, pool, and sports courts.

Cedar Creek State Park - The park features three lakes, 14 miles of hiking trails, a miniature golf course, and an outdoor pool, in a natural setting.

Clarksburg City Parks - Open year-round with many features. Clarksburg city parks include: Clarksburg City Park, Veteran's Memorial Park (great kids' playground), Clarksburg Dog Park (at Veterans Park), and Stealey Playground.​​​​​​

Philippi City Park and Pool

Watters Smith State Park - a 532 acre park that depicts life in Appalachia during the 1800's and early 1900's. It offers 18 trails, about 12 miles. These trails are ideal for mountain biking, with many loops available. Most of the riding is intermediate, with one trail (Trick Track Trail) for more advanced riding.

Shinnston City Park - Ferguson Park offers an Olympic-size pool and two playgrounds built by volunteers, including students from Lincoln High School.

Bridgeport City Parks offer a wide variety of recreation, from boating, fishing and swimming to archery, hiking, tennis, basketball and children's playgrounds.

Audra State Park covers 355 heavily wooded acres on the Middle Fork River in southwestern Barbour County and part of Upshur County. Swimming, fishing, hiking, nature walks, biking and family camping in a beautiful natural environment.
